The Phuket International Sportfishing Tournament is to be held at Chalong Bay between November 24th and 26th 2011.

PHUKET, THAILAND, October 05, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Phuket is to play host to an eagerly-contested fishing competition when the Phuket International Sportfishing Tournament kicks off in November.

Beginning on November 24th 2011, the three-day competition will see various teams taking to the ocean in boats to try and catch as many fish as they can, with top honours going to the participants that snag the most in terms of overall weight.

Boats will head out at 08:00 local time each day and return to shore at Chalong Bay by 19:00 (or 18:00 on November 26th, the final day), before weighing their haul at the Tamarind Bar and Grill area.

Those taking part will be encouraged to have fun, while the organisers are also keen to persuade competitors to release any billfish they catch by awarding a special prize to the team that lets the most go free.

Entry for a team of up to four anglers costs 12,000 baht (GBP246.30), with a reduced 10,000 fee also available to those who book early.

A number of different boats are available to charter locally for those wishing to try their luck.
